Mexico
25 kilometers drive from Huatulco in southern Mexico is Barra de la Cruz. The area is part of a larger eco-system that includes a small lagoon, astonishing wildlife and a river that leads to the beach filled with mangroves. The area is famous for its sand bar point break. This point break became famous after the Rip Curl Search event in the 2006 Men’s World Tour. Over the last few years, more tourists are visiting the area and the surf scene has grown significantly. Although this growth has brought positive economic changes to the community, eco-systems are facing irreversible damages that can be stopped by becoming proactive.
